>Arie_Sinke: AEGLOWY 8H AGLEY +26 26
#note This is a very poor play. I saw LOGWAY immediately and convinced myself that I was confusing it with COGWAY. AGLOW is also better than AGLEY.
>Hank_Hees: DEINORU 9B DOURINE +62 62
#note NEUROID as a four tile overlap would be a better play.
>Arie_Sinke: AFGOSTW 8A FOG +27 53
#note FOG is fine, it seems to be a good compromise between score and leave, and FUGATO D8 gives back too much.
>Hank_Hees: CPU K5 PUC. +16 78
>Arie_Sinke: AEIJSTW E5 WAST.IE +40 93
#note Interesting position; the other comparably good play is JAW 7F for 20, which is a totally different strategy. I think the points are too many to saw no to here, and Quackle seems to concur by a very slim margin. JAW also suffers from not bingoing enough with few good places for the S (the valuable EIST leave only hits 41% of the time, which seems pretty low for that quality of leave.)
>Hank_Hees: AGINW L8 .AWING +26 104
>Arie_Sinke: ADEJOTU 13I JUD.E +44 137
#note This is fine; nothing else scores comparably.
>Hank_Hees: LMPU J3 PLUM +28 132
>Arie_Sinke: ABHORTV L1 BRAVO +31 168
#note I do think this is probably the right call here, but there are other options to look into.
1) THROB F2 - scores 2 more but keeps the V and doesn't give back a triple. It's comparable to BRAVO but the V is probably bad enough for BRAVO to be worth it.
2) BRAVO at D1 for the same score - this one seems like it's a tiny bit worse than my play in fairly clear cut ways - positionally my play is not quite as open
3) BOART N10 for 41 - nice to take out the JUDGE hooks and score 10 extra points but not as nice to give back column O and keep HV - the H and the V are definitely not friends. I looked into it but figured it would be worse.
>Hank_Hees: ABCRY 1H CRAB.Y +45 177
>Arie_Sinke: AADFHST 11A FATH.ADS +65 233
#note Only bingo.
>Hank_Hees: IK K11 KI. +30 207
>Arie_Sinke: DEIORRZ A11 .ROZE +54 287
#note This is likely the right call. The only thing that scores comparably is DOZIER N8 which has some fairly clear liabilities.
>Hank_Hees: IX F6 XI +52 259
>Arie_Sinke: ADEIORT N8 RIOTED +25 312
#note I spent a long time thinking about this play, and in the end I ended up trying something that was creative and unconventional but also probably wrong. My thinking was as follows: I reasoned that the hooks on JUDGE were hugely consequential and a great path back into the game for Hank. I was also concerned that a play hooking JUDGE playing down to N14 would create an S hook and fork the board. I reasoned that if I played RIOTED, Hank would basically have one turn to bingo on column O. If he doesn't bingo he will probably play something with RE that takes column O out of play, and then I will play something with ZA, scoring decently and eliminating eights from the Z and the E and effectively killing the board, barring sevens on row 14 forming JO. I don't think I reckoned with how bad my position is if I play RIOTED and Hank immediate bingos on column O. I will have a hard time clawing my way back into the game under that circumstance. Quackle says TRIODE but I am inclined to believe just EAT B13 is the way to go here. Score, keep the hook tiles, block a bit.
>Hank_Hees: ?EIMNNO O2 NOMINeE +89 348
>Arie_Sinke: AEEINTV B13 EAT +32 344
#note It seems like something like VITAE D1 for 29 is called for here. Scores fine, gets rid of the V, draws a bit deeper into the bag for the Ss and blank, and creates a line through a floating T while not blocking the E. I am not in a great spot here but that's a good way to make the most of it. Quackle likes VET D4 which makes no sense to me.
>Hank_Hees: LOR D4 LOR +21 369
>Arie_Sinke: EILNSTV J12 L.V +17 361
#note I feel like this is forced. It usually fails but there are some situations where the S and the blank are both in the bag where I draw into something, and some situations where I force Hank into a low scoring block and then outrun by scoring well with the Q.
>Hank_Hees: ENOST 15H ONSET +25 394
>Arie_Sinke: AEINQST H1 .INQ +25 386
#note I don't have a play that wins in theory with optimal endgame play here. After CINQ Hank can play out with HEIn(I)E 2D for 12 and win easily. He also wins if he does what he did (score with YEH) or if he blocks EAST. I feel like this comes the closest to giving me a potential shot at stealing the game. The theoretical best play is QI N5, which goes out with TANSIES 7B to lose by 6.
