>Arie_Sinke: AEINORV 8D VIREO +24 24
#note This is interesting. The sim recommends opening short with OVA/AVO, an idea that goes against all my point-grabbing instincts. I have a bit of an aversion to opening with a three. Maybe I need to be more open minded and consider alternative ways of thinking. AVION also may or may not be better than VIREO despite scoring 6 less.
>Ryan_Chepita: BDEILOS 7H BOLIDES +66 66
>Arie_Sinke: AADEIIN D7 A.IDIN +20 44
#note This does not win the sim - that honor goes to a few dinky low scoring fishes. Apparently I should be dinking off AI somewhere or something. This does have the advantage of keeping the board a bit more open in the medium term by creating a spot on column C. AVIDIN may or may not be a good play. I don't even know how to evaluate this kind of stuff. Everything is close. I hate fishing.
>Ryan_Chepita: ?ORRTTU 9G TORTURe +66 132
>Arie_Sinke: AEHMSTU C9 HAMES +46 90
#note Can't say no to these points! or maybe I can. UH C6 for 18 wins the sim by a non-trivial margin. I will end up losing this game by a margin of 22 points despite being outbingoed 0-3, and there is a reason why this sort of thing continuously happens to me. I bingo 52% of the time if I play UH.
>Ryan_Chepita: NOY 8M YON +25 157
>Arie_Sinke: ?CGLMTU B6 MULCT +31 121
#note This is actually a pretty good play, despite setting up easy counterplays. There's nothing comparable for equity.
>Ryan_Chepita: AENV A5 VANE +33 190
>Arie_Sinke: ?FGPQRS E6 GR.P +20 141
#note I liked GRIP because I'm one E away from FIQUES K6. Not that 36 points is so special but it's something and I could potentially draw into a few 2x2s, including some that might be worth burning the blank for. Quackle thinks I should go for GIP or GIPS through the same I for reasons that are very mysterious to me.
>Ryan_Chepita: ALX 6I LAX +27 217
>Arie_Sinke: ?EFNQSZ B12 FEZ +38 179
#note This is fine. It's forced.
>Ryan_Chepita: AFGHNTT 11C ..TT +12 229
>Arie_Sinke: ?AADNQS 10M DAN +13 192
#note Very frustrating and mysterious position. This looks like it's the best I can do. SODA N7 is okay but it gives back a lot of counterplays.
>Ryan_Chepita: K H7 ...K +10 239
>Arie_Sinke: ?AELQSW 11H SWALE +27 219
#note Played too fast here; SLEW or SLAW would be a bit better to retain a vowel with the Q and not set up vowels in a way that's easy to overlap. This is a relatively small but clear error.
>Ryan_Chepita: BEEGIJO 6E .IG +7 246
>Arie_Sinke: ?EEEOQY -EEOQY +0 219
#note I think this is forced.
>Ryan_Chepita: BEEJORS 12I OE +9 255
>Arie_Sinke: ?BEFIRT 12L FIB +26 245
#note Again, this is basically forced.
>Ryan_Chepita: JNU 13G JUN +26 281
>Arie_Sinke: ?CEERTY 13M TYE +23 268
#note Again, not much to think about here; this is forced.
>Ryan_Chepita: EPS O12 S.EP +31 312
>Arie_Sinke: ?CEGORW F2 CORG. +14 282
#note Previously to this play I had been hoping that I could keep the board tight, outscore Ryan in trench warfare, and somehow secure the win by having the blank and generally better tiles. After his play of SEEP it became clear that I had to get aggressive. I chose what looked like the most straightforward board opening play, which suffers from taking a very bingo reliant line while retaining the W on my rack. Quackle has a few other suggestings. Simply playing GAL J5 for four points bingos a lot (12/16 draws) with EGAL. Unfortunately, Ryan can easily obstruct by using the EGAL hook himself, but this is not guaranteed to succeed because I might have something with REGAL. Another interesting option is ECO 14E, setting up row 15 in a way that Ryan can't block unless he has an E. Both of these plays work best if Ryan doesn't have an E, which is unfortunate because after SEEP he is probably more likely than usual to have one. WO 14F is a similar option to ECO but Ryan will block that whenever he has an O or an E (and he should practically always have at least one of the two. I like my odds best after ECO or GAL. CORGI is way back; it was the best attempt I could come up with but not nearly creative enough.
>Ryan_Chepita: ADEEINR 2B DERA.INE +72 384
>Arie_Sinke: ?EHOQUW 1G QUOtH +67 349
#note Best I can do. This loses.
>Ryan_Chepita: AAIIO D1 A.IA +10 394
#note Ryan should be playing something with QUOtHA here.
