#note VAG is in Collins so understandable for Vera to make this error. Two totally different approaches sim about comparably here - exchanging and something like QuEYS. I feel like knowing that whatever opening play Vera has will be comparable to or worse than VAG might put exchanging over the edge. That being said, my decision to exchange only the Q may not have been justified. Exchanging QY or OQY probably bingos a tiny bit more often (albeit for fewer points on average).
>Vera_Bigall: ABG 8G BAG +12 12
>Arie_Sinke: ?DEGOSY 9A GeODESY +77 77
#note This is best.
>Vera_Bigall: AEV A7 VE.A +24 36
>Arie_Sinke: EIIMNOP 10C MONIE +30 107
#note I like this play for the defense. It's probably best but AMIE 10A, which keeps a slightly better leave, is at least comparable (probably a bit worse).
>Vera_Bigall: ?EHLQS 11G SHEQeL +43 79
>Arie_Sinke: ABEGIPV L7 VIAB.E +24 131
#note Best by far.
>Vera_Bigall: ILR 12I RIL. +18 97
>Arie_Sinke: GHIPRTX M9 XI +38 169
#note PH(EN)IX E7, which I did not see, is a slight improvement. It scores less and creating easy overlaps of the X is not ideal, but the leave is a lot better - 3 consonants instead of 5.
>Vera_Bigall: ORSU 13G OURS +22 119
>Arie_Sinke: DGHOPRT E5 PROT..D +40 209
#note I get rewarded for missing PHENIX on my last turn.
>Vera_Bigall: EEEEEEE -EEEEEE +0 119
#note Vera exchanged 6.
>Arie_Sinke: CGHIKMU 6B CHI.K +30 239
#note Two plays at N10 sim a bit better - GUM and GUCK for 20 and 25 respectively. These plays look aggressive but they are actually not bad for defense. BIGS looks like a big deal but the spot I am taking out on row 14 is actually a bigger deal. Plays with the Z and BIZ can easily score well over 100 and with a lot of Es out for AXE a lot of sevens fit on row 14. Also, the leaves after GUM and GUCK are much more powerful than the very weak GMU leave after CHIRK. These plays appear to be justified despite the scoring sacrifice, and GUM appears to be the better of the two.
>Vera_Bigall: AFIT C2 FAIT. +22 141
>Arie_Sinke: AGMNTUU N10 GAUNT +30 269
#note This is an equity sacrifice compared to either GAMUT N10 for 34 or AUTUMN 14B for 30, but I thought it was defensive because GAUNT doesn't take an S. Of course BIGS is good though and there's only one S out so it's kind of a moot point whether I set up one S hook with GAUNT or two with GAMUT. At any rate I don't really like AUTUMN because the BIZ spot has to go. I would opt for GAMUT in a do-over.
>Vera_Bigall: AEOT O12 TOEA +22 163
>Arie_Sinke: EMNNOUY B1 YOM +30 299
#note This illustrates the weakness of GAUNT - BIGS is now basically unblockable. Two very tough finds look a little bit better than my play - ENNU(I) D2 for 26 and UNEN(VIABLE) L3 for 30! The nice thing about YOM is that it saves UNENVIABLE for next turn (not that I will spot it next turn.)
>Vera_Bigall: DEOTU 5E .OUTED +15 178
>Arie_Sinke: AENNRUW H1 UNWE. +27 326
#note The W is really bad so this is actually probably a bit better than UNENVIABLE. It's not great to open up floaters with a 100 point lead though. Tough call. The U and the W are not the scariest floaters but the N is not my friend here.
>Vera_Bigall: EF D3 EF +25 203
>Arie_Sinke: ALNOPRS O4 PROLANS +93 419
>Vera_Bigall: AEZ - +0 203
#note Vera challenged PROLANS and BIGS.
>Arie_Sinke: ADIJRRW 6N J. +25 444
#note This is actually kind of pathetic. Not ROMAJI C8 because it empties the bag but surely JIRD J2 for the extra few points and the improved leave? Not sure what I was thinking here. The outcome of the game was not in doubt and I had a huge spread and I think I was just playing fast to go to dinner sooner.
>Vera_Bigall: AEZ J4 A.ZE +34 237

#note This is fine.
>Vera_Bigall: CEEIILT 15G ELICIT +31 268
>Arie_Sinke: NR 1H .RN +3 474
#note Pathetic again - ERN 8A is 9. This is a 6 point endgame error.
