>David_Firstman: CINTU 8D CUTIN +20 20
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEILORW 9G DOW +20 20
#note This is one of those positions where I had to completely scrap the idea of "playing open against someone who tends to play more closed". F8 (T)OW or F6 WO(T) were both not very good ideas here. WOT does take an S hook for SWOT and it also strengthens the X bomb at 7G. F8 TOW has the same problems plus I don't have an N for TOWN. DOW neutralizes the Q/X spot, scores 6 more, keeps a good leave, and redues David's average score by about 6 points on average.
>David_Firstman: HIPR D8 .HIRP +24 44
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEILNRS J6 ALINERS +69 89
#note I'll take my very nice draw and once again make the play that limits his average score the most for next turn.
>David_Firstman: IMV K4 VIM +20 64
>Samuel_Kaplan: BEEKOTW 7G KOE. +30 119
#note This play isn't bad. It is a sound play. But the leave after 12H BE(S)TOW, which I didn't see, is much less clunky. The score I average next turn is several points higher after BESTOW than KOEL, and it is more than enough to offset the 1 extra point David will average after I make the more open move. BESTOW is the play since I can save my K to score again next turn. #findingmedium
>David_Firstman: ADILTUY L5 DUALITY +70 134
#note Turns out I would have stopped this from coming down too. But I wouldn't have known that. Nice find David! Let's just say that KOEL was a mistake.
>Samuel_Kaplan: BEGOTVW 11C B.OW +18 137
#note Right idea, V(R)OW is an improvement here.
>David_Firstman: IX M7 XI +36 170
#note David told me he picked the J, X, and Z after DUALITY!
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEFGTV K10 FA +28 165
#note I did see N4 FAVE, but that seemed too risky. Plays on Column N and my play are simming about equal. If I can score like 25 more by using Column N, I'd be fine with going there. But not when I can score the same with the safer play.
>David_Firstman: AEJPZ 12G ZAP. +16 186
#note Based on this partial rack, I find this play to be very interesting to say the least. When I asked David after the game if he had an E, he told me he did. I would never have thought he was keeping an E, but after he seemingly agonized during this turn, I thought maybe he didn't have many great options. The sim heavily favors playing N6 ZEP despite potential counterplay from me on Column O with the LIP hooks. After I played FA for a respectable 28, I might not always have a good rack.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEEGITV 13F GATE +26 191
#note Another play that doesn't do as well on static equity but sims very well. I don't think VAGI in the same spot is as good as it might usually be just because there's so many Es left. 13G AGE seems to be best as -TIVE is a fantastic leave for Column N bingoes if David seemed to be hesitant to play there with AXES/AXED plays being a thing. #strategysmall
>David_Firstman: CEJR E5 ECR. +12 198
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEILRSV 14I DRIVELS +82 273
#note Fantastic draw of DLRS. If I played VAGI, I have no playable bingoes with DEELRST and I'm not scoring anything without giving something else back.
>David_Firstman: ?JO O12 JO.h +54 252
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEEGMNT N6 GENET +25 298
#note Decided to go with GENET since David must have an I or an O to make longer plays and do more damage. There's basically no other way to score respectably besides Column N in this position, so I am turning over more tiles to draw an S for PEDS or an I for PEDI, those sorts of Row 15 plays.
>David_Firstman: GOTUY D1 GOUTY +27 279
#note I will let David open up while he's behind.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADEMNRS 15C REMANDS +90 388
#note DAMNERS in the same spot also does the job. Another clutch draw. That was the upside of turning over as many tiles as I could.
>David_Firstman: EHOS O5 HOSE +47 326
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEEINQR 3C Q.EAN +30 418
#note Since Quackle is rather unreliable in pre-endgames, I might as well analyze this one myself. I didn't play 3B EQ(U)INE since that gives up Column B, which I wasn't doing with a 2nd blank still unseen. I figured here I'd leave 2 in the bag in order to force him to have to empty the bag if he wants to score respectably using Row 2. If he has the B or F on his rack, he can play at 2F, but then I would just take Row 1 in response after I know his entire rack and not let him potentially bingo out. This should allow me to outrun any bingo he could have just in case he does decide to bingo immediately, assuming he has one.
>David_Firstman: F M13 F. +10 336
>Samuel_Kaplan: EIILOOR 1D .OOIER +21 439
#note This wins no matter what is in the bag. Definitely need to block things like mANTEAU with a B draw, BANqUET, BUTANEs, BATtEAU, etc with an A draw, and other ones.
>David_Firstman: ?AABNTU 14B TABU +22 358
>Samuel_Kaplan: EIL 13A LIE +14 453
#note Best out play. I am thrilled to survive a 2nd straight blankless effort. Perhaps this is a sign of good things to come. 1 medium sized mistake with KOEL and 1 small mistake with GATE came with an otherwise well played and sound game. 2-0 +170.
