#description 01/13/2024 Crescent City Cup round 1
>JacksonSmylie: EEIKLMT H4 KELIM +32 32
#note didnt see MEIKLE, which might be cool to bait the phony S hook
>SkylerLutz: DEINRTU 5G R.UNITED +68 68
#note Did not know TURDINE, Jackson said it was a bit better.
>JacksonSmylie: AEEOOST G4 O.ATE +21 53
>SkylerLutz: ENOOSTT I7 TOON +15 83
#note Did not know TOSTONE/TESTOON. Cool words. I should've held the N for the better leave. Also the N could unnecessarily block sevens in column J. The extra point is definitely not worth it.
>JacksonSmylie: EFIORSS K2 OSS.FIER +61 114
>SkylerLutz: BCDEITV - +0 83
#note I only knew OSSIFY/OSSIFIED and I thought it meant drunk on alcohol. Given that, the IER ending seemed fishy. Apparently it is related to bones. Live and learn.
>JacksonSmylie: AFLLNPQ M1 FALL.N +18 132
#note was not inspired by this but nothing comes close in a sim. PQ is not amazing here but there are some outs, QIS or occasional EQUID/EQUAL plays, plus FALLEN mucks up a lot of Skyler's possibilties
>SkylerLutz: BCDEITV 2J V.C.B +40 123
#note Quackle likes it
>JacksonSmylie: ?EIPQRR 8K .QuIP +75 207
>SkylerLutz: DEINSTZ N7 D.TZ +34 157
#note I should've at least seen DIZEN F8 because I've studied Z5's once-over. I saw a Z-spot at N10 and mentally latched onto it when I should have kept looking. Tunnel vision. Regardless, I'm not 100% that DIZEN is actually better due to the leave. Also I wonder if it would have made the first quadrant harder to access. I am not that great at predicting what the shape of the board will be.
>JacksonSmylie: EIIRRUW 10F URI.E +9 216
#note didnt mind making MP hooks he might not know. RUIN is also fine, or even U(N)I optimally, but I wanted to take out the S hooks here cause I was getting worried about having too tight a board with S hooks still floating.
>SkylerLutz: ?EJNRSX H10 .NJuRE +60 217
#note Quackle likes it
>JacksonSmylie: IINORVW 14G V.OW +18 234
#note VIRION at 14F looks like the play here. I think I saw it and not sure why I dismissed it - although it might give back a bit more on the 15 row, it scores way more consistenty than IINR and gets into fewer tight scenarios. I did like blocking bingoes here again to prevent disaster scenarios, and I liked keeping the N to hit O10 plays since A draws are so likely, but VIRION seems like a safer leave to keep
>SkylerLutz: AHNPSXY 11M HYP +29 246
#note Tunnel vision again, this time on a Y at N11. ASHY O1 scores significantly more. Also did not know PURINE. Also that SPHINX could be spelled with a Y instead of an I. Neat.
>JacksonSmylie: AGIINRT O11 .IING +27 261
>SkylerLutz: AENSSTX 1M .AX +43 289
#note Quackle likes it.
>JacksonSmylie: AEORTWY F2 YAW +27 288
#note might be a slight overreaction to the pool here, YOW keeping AERT still bingoes and scores more next turn despite many As lurking - many Es lurk too, but that will work better with AERT than EORT. JOWAR is also worth considering here to take out easy J plays and keep the Y for scoring. I dont mind it at all here. YAW still has some merit longer term to keep the O over the A, which isnt recognized in the sim
>SkylerLutz: AENSSTU 12H .EANS +24 313
#note Quackle likes JAUNT / JUNTA keeping the S's which I don't quite understand. S's don't seem very valuable on this board. US E11 is interesting, but is such volatility necessary? It's basically a tie game.
>JacksonSmylie: AEEHORT L2 .OA. +21 309
#note missed SELAH here for 31, which looks a few points better
>SkylerLutz: EGGISTU 11D GUT +10 323
#note I considered GIGA 3C which sims 6 points higher than GUT, but did not want to open row 3 for huge underlaps with O's unseen.
>JacksonSmylie: AEEHRRT 10L RE. +17 326
#note didnt see GERAH, but I like this better and it sims better - prevents easy overlaps or plays to the H as well
>SkylerLutz: AEGIOSU 12B GUISE +23 346
#note I am not sure what is best here. Did not know OUGIYA, what a crazy word.
>JacksonSmylie: AADEHRT 13C HE +24 350
#note tough position here, and quackle's suggestion of SALAD doesnt make a lot of sense. HE at least makes his position really tough since it leaves 1 in the bag, though I was worried about N13 plays if I dont draw an O for OBI.
>SkylerLutz: ABCDILO 2B BADL. +22 368
#note Ladies and gentlemen, for my next trick, I will blow the game. "Badly", I might add. I saw my consonants and thought, gee, I should dump some of these. Didn't consider the huge overlaps I gave back in row 1. After the game, Jackson said he would've kept it tighter. He said either BO/BA N13, or dropping the I at L6 for COATI, a word I do actually know. Quackle likes DAB 3E which makes a neat front hook. Did not know BORATE as a singular, only BORATES plural. Live and learn!
>JacksonSmylie: AADEMRT 1A DAME +36 386
#note TAME 2 better
>SkylerLutz: CEIOO 14L ICO. +12 380
#note I considered OE at B3 making ABO (legal, since this is TWL18), but I noticed Jackson's going out, so I figured the C would actually cost me in the end, so I dumped it for what I could. MACRO is a cool play that I did not see, although nothing wins.
>JacksonSmylie: ART 3A TAR +21 407
#note S: Good game Jackson.
>JacksonSmylie: (EO) +4 411
